“If a 3rd season is commissioned on the same basis as the previous two, it would be broadcast in the UK from September to December 2010. However, the filming schedule has been arduous for the lead cast members, with 12-hour days for 8 months of the year, and longer for many members of the productions team and crew. Given this, there may be a change in format and/or scheduling for any subsequent series. The BBC may also be keen to recoup its considerable investment thus far in Merlin by making the franchise pay for itself in future and therefore be in a format best suited to its overseas broadcasting customers. “
